Bobby Deol Says He Does Not Open Up To His Father Dharmendra: 'Made It A Point To Avoid That Kind Of Distance With My Own Kids’
Actor Bobby Deol says that he feels that there is a ‘distance’ between him and his father Dharmendra in their relationship and that he made sure this wasn’t the case with his two sons, Aryaman and Dharam. He talked about how growing up, his father, the megastar was very busy with his shoots and hardly got enough time to spend with him. In an interview with Filmfare, he opened up about his equation with his father and how he respects him but is not too open with him.

He feels that he’ll be scolded even today if he’s too frank with him. While speaking to Filmfare he said, “When we were growing up, papa was working hard. So we didn’t spend much time with him. I used to go with him for outdoor shootings. People thought and acted in a different way then. The relation between father and children wasn’t as smooth then as it is in today’s generation. I made it a point to avoid that kind of a distance with my own kids. We have a friendly relationship.”

He said that while in earlier times, children would respect their parents, but wouldn’t really open their hearts to them, and this was something his father Dharmendra always complained about. Bobby Deol says his father often asks him to sit with him and talk. “I reply that even today I’m afraid you’ll start scolding me. I wanted to take that fear away from my children and perhaps I’ve been successful in doing so,” he said.

Bobby Deol recently featured in the Netflix movie, Class of 83. Having made his digital debut through this, he also starred in a web series called Aashram, which is out on MX player.
